‘Knew That It Was All A Lie’: Nana Patekar FINALLY Opens Up About Tanushree Dutta’s Sexual Harassment Allegations During The MeToo Movement
Veteran actor Nana Patekar’s name was embroiled in controversy in 2018 when actress Tanushree Dutta made sexual harassment allegations against him. In her revelations, she revealed that he touched her inappropriately and misbehaved with her during the shoot of a song from their film Horn Ok Pleassss (2008). Now, the actor has opened up about the allegations and stated that he didn’t react to the ‘fake’ allegations as he knew they were lies.

In an interview with The Lallantop, the 73-year-old actor explained that he knew from the beginning that her allegations were false which is why he never got angry. Stating that these “things are old,” he wondered what more is there to talk about. While expressing that he chose to stay silent rather than defending himself, Patekar mentioned that he didn’t do so as everyone knew the ‘truth.’

Quoted by Hindustan Times, the Natsamrat actor told the media publication in Hindi, “I knew that it was all a lie. That's why I didn't get angry. When everything was a lie, why should I be angry? And all those things are old. They have happened. What can we talk about them? Everyone knew the truth. What could I say at that time when nothing like this happened? Suddenly, someone says that you did this, you did that. What would I have answered to all these things? Should I have said that I didn't do this? I know the truth that I didn't do anything.”

For those who don’t remember, Tanushree has alleged that Patekar, dance choreographer Ganesh Acharya, and director Vivek Agnihotri misbehaved with her during the shoot of a film. Having kickstarted the MeToo Movement in India in 2018, through her statement, she revealed that Nana “tried to sexually abuse” her. She even added that even though the song was to be shot with a single actor, the veteran would be present on the set during the shooting process.
